Got Crooked Teeth? 2 Types Of Braces That Can Be Used

If you have crooked teeth this can make you feel embarrassed. One thing you can do to help with this is to get braces. There are different types a doctor can choose from. What they choose will depend on how crooked your teeth are, however. Below is information about two types so you can determine what you would like best.

Invisible Braces

If you do not want people to know you are wearing braces you may be able to wear invisible braces. These braces are generally used when someone has mild to moderately crooked teeth. When you visit a dentist, they create a mold of your teeth and then turns the mold into a digital scan. They use this information to make clear plastic aligners that you wear over your teeth. These aligners can be removed when you are brushing your teeth or while you are eating. The aligners gradually move your teeth, and you will likely not feel any pain. You will have to wear them for a certain amount of time each day, which the dentist can give you information about.

The doctor will tell you how long you must wear your invisible braces. You will go back to the doctor periodically to have your teeth and the braces checked. After a few months, they may want to replace the invisible braces with new ones. This is because the braces may start to stretch over time, or they may become dirty. You will have to clean them each day, however. The doctor provides you with the right type of cleaning solution and will show you how to do this.

Metal Braces

If your teeth are severely crooked the dentist may suggest that you get metal braces. You have likely seen people wearing these as they are common. The dentist attaches the braces to your teeth and then connects each brace by using elastic ties. These ties are available in a variety of colors which can make your braces more fun. Throughout your treatment, you will go to the dentist to have the braces tightened to straighten your teeth. You may feel some pain after each tightening, but it generally goes away within a few hours.

One thing about metal braces is they cannot be removed. Because of this, you must make sure you keep them cleaned. Food can get stuck in the braces and will have to be removed using a special tool. If you do not do this your teeth can get damaged and have decay when your braces are removed.

The dentist you see can give you much more information about both invisible braces and metal braces.
